Volusia IDEA Initiative

We were proud to be part of the Volusia IDEA Initiative Community Town Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at Drive-In Christian Church in Daytona Beach. The evening brought together local partners and community members for a practical, solutions-focused conversation about what’s working, what’s needed next, and how we can keep strengthening pathways to recovery across our region.

The Volusia IDEA Initiative is centered on real-world, evidence-based strategies that help save lives and support long-term healing. During the town hall, speakers and partners shared how coordinated efforts can reduce overdose deaths, connect individuals and families to treatment and recovery services, address HIV and Hepatitis C, and improve overall community safety. From peer-informed overdose response to harm reduction and education, the message was clear: progress happens when communities work together and people have access to the right support at the right time.

Flagler OARS was represented at the event by Brittany and Pam, who attended alongside Missy, a key partner in the work happening across Volusia and Flagler counties. Events like this matter because they make resources and relationships visible. They create space for honest questions, shared learning, and collaboration between organizations that may serve different parts of the community, but share the same goal: fewer lives lost, more people connected to care, and stronger support for families navigating substance use disorder and recovery.

Thank you to the Volusia IDEA Initiative and all participating partners for hosting a meaningful, well-organized evening, and thank you to everyone who showed up ready to listen, learn, and be part of the solution. If you or someone you know is looking for recovery support resources in Flagler County, Flagler OARS is here to help with peer support, education, and connection to services.
